There have been 18 play-offs in the Masters. The first was in 1935 when Gene Sarazen beat Crag Wood by five strokes after a 36-hole play-off.
All play-offs between 1942-70 were over 18 holes.
The sudden death was first used in 1979 and none have gone beyond two extra holes.
The only man to win two play-offs is Nick Faldo (as above), while Justin Rose (as above) and Ben Hogan (1942 and 1954) are the only men to lose two play-offs.
Ángel Cabrera is uniquely the only person to both win and lose a play-off |
