Fred Funk's 2004 Ryder Cup appearance was his ony appearance in the competition, at the age of 48.

Ted Ray (1927) and Dai Rees (1961) were Great Britain's playing captains at the time.

Some sources say Ted Ray was born on 6 April 1877 but the 1939 England & Wales Register confirms his date of birth as 28 March 1877.

When Tom Watson captained the US team in 2014 he had just celebrated his 65th birthday making him the oldest person to particiate in the Ryder Cup as a player or captain. The oldest GB/Europe captain was J. H. Taylor in 1933 aged 62.
