The European Senior Tour, currently known as the Legends Tour since 2020, is a season long series of events for golfers over the age of 50.

The Tour was launched in 1992 with 10 events. Brian Huggett (Wales) won the very first event on 26 April when he captured the Gary Player Anvil Senior Classic at St. Pierre, Chepstow by beating Tommy Horton (England) in a play-off at the fourth extra hole. The inaugural Order of Merit winner was South African John Fourie with two wins and prizemoney totalling £47,856. In 2025, there were 19 official tournaments with total  prizemoney of €20 million.

Just 18 days after his 50th birthday, Carl Mason won the first of his record 25 wins on 13 July 2003 when he beat Bob Cameron (England) by one stroke to win The Mobile Cup at Stoke Park, Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire.

The leading individual competition for professional Seniors in Europe is the Senior Open Champìonship, known also as the Senior British Open. It was launched in 1987 and became part of the European Seniors Tour in 1992. It became the fifth Seniors Major in 2003 and in 2018 all winners of the Open between 1987-2002 were retroactively credited as winning a Major.

The first winner of the Senior Open in 1987 was England’s Neil Coles who beat Bob Charles of New Zealand by one stroke at Turnberry.
