The last man to win back-to-back US Open Championships was Brooks Koepka (as above) while the first was Scotland´s Willie Anderson in 1903 and 1904.

The first US Open was at Newport Golf Club, Rhode Island in 1895 and won by Englishman Horace Rawlins who enjoyed the benefit of local knowledge. He was an assistant professional at the host club at the time.
