Included in Byron Nelson’s 18 wins were a record 11 consecutive wins starting with the Miami Four Ball at Palm Springs on 11 March and ending with success in the Canadian Open (regarded as the “Fifth Major”) on 4 August. During that time, Nelson also won the PGA Championship. His 11-tournament winning streak ended in mid-August 1945 when he finished joint fourth in the Memphis Invitational, six shots behind the amateur winner, Fred Haas.
Since the end of Tiger Woods' dominance when he topped the annual list of wins 12 times between 1997 and 2013, the best returns have been by Scottie Scheffer in 2024 and 2025 with 7 and 6 wins respectively. |
