Born in Liverpool a couple of years after the end of World War II, Ian Morrison is a former full-time sports author with more than 90 published works to his credit dating back to 1983. He retired to Mallorca in 1991 and since then continued to work on the sports entries for the Top 10 of Everything each year as well as compiling spin-offs including The Top 10 of Sport and Top 10 of Football with the late Russell Ash. Ian now lives in the Alicante region of Spain.
Included in the 90+ books Ian has written, ten have been on golf: The Ultimate Golfer (with the late Royal Birkdale professional Richard Bradbeer), Golf Facts, Who's Who in Golf, The Golf Handbook, Pictorial History of Golf, Hamlyn Encyclopedia of Golf, 100 Golfing Tips, 100 Greatest Golfers, Great Moments in Golf, and Greatest Moments in Golf.
Ian has always enjoyed playing golf but by his own admission is 'rubbish' at it. And after spending three months working with Richard Bradbeer on The Ultimate Golfer, Richard suggested they played a few holes of the Royal Birkdale course to see what Ian had learned during their time together compiling the book. They retired to the clubhouse after one hole after it was obvious the answer to that question was ..."Nothing!".
Fortunately Ian has always been better at writing about the sport than playing it...
